(Update 12*7*15 : So I have been slacking on my blog ...clearly. I started this post back in May when this awesome couple had their engagement photos done! So now you lucky reader you, you get to read about their wedding too! )
I first met this cute couple through Thumbtack and after an initial meeting a few days later, I was lucky enough to be chosen as their wedding photographer. But before the big day comes around, we had to get some engagement shots under our belt. We all met at a local park here in Sacramento. The weather was a bit overcast and chilly but as many brides to be do, Mayra toughed through it in her cute summer dress.

"I could conquer the world with one hand as long as you're holding the other."
So as if the chilly weather wasn't enough, my awesome bride said she wanted some pictures in the river! I think it was Luis who was the most hesitant. Although I can't hardly blame him..it was freezing! But I'm so glad they braved it, because we got an image like this !

What better way to warm up than with a blanket and a kiss from your one and only? I was so glad I got to know Mayra and Luis during their engagement session. Their love for eachother was very evident and it made me so excited for their wedding in September! If their wedding day was anything like this session, it was going to be filled with love and compassion.

Fast forward to September 26th, 2015. Mayra and Luis's wedding day! Their ceremony was held at a local Catholic church. When I arrived Luis was nervously joking around with his friends, but anytime someone asked if he was actually nervous an air of calm came over him and he'd simply say "not at all".

As the ceremony started, everyone took their seats and held their breath as Mayra walked in wearing a gorgeous strapless dress accompanied with a floor length veil. The ceremony was a classic Catholic mass, with traditional events like binding with the cord and intent of marriage. Beautiful.

Once Mayra and Luis sealed the deal with a kiss, it was time to get the party started! The reception was held at the Sterling Hotel in downtown Sacramento. A beautiful venue and historic hotel. Originally built in 1894 as a personal residence, it was refurbished and converted to a hotel and wedding venue in 1988. It is one of my favorites to shoot at, so when my couples tell me they'll be either having their ceremony or reception there, I get a little excited! DJ and Master of Ceremonies was provided by Morning Star Entertainment and one of the best DJ's I have worked with in the industry, Preston Murray. He along with Morning Star's amazing equipment helped create a pumped up atmosphere. Details abounded in the reception hall. Sweet treat tables to the thank you place cards, nothing was overlooked!

Thank you so much to Mayra and Luis for letting me be a part of your big day!
